Jonathan Owens cheers on Simone Biles as Team USA wins Olympic gold in team final

The United States women's gymnastics team is back on top after winning Olympic gold in the team final on Tuesday night in Paris.

Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens was on hand to watch his wife Simone Biles, the greatest gymnast of all-time, lead Team USA to a gold medal in what was a dominant effort. The United States cruised to victory with a nearly six-point margin over silver medalists, Italy (-5.802) and bronze medalists, Brazil (-6.799).

With the latest gold medal, Biles now has more Olympic medals than any other American gymnast with eight, breaking a tie she had with Shannon Miller. Biles already holds the record for most golds, which now stands at five. Biles will compete in four more events over the next week, including the All-Around Final and individual apparatus finals for vault, floor exercise and balance beam.

Owens, who signed a two-year deal with Chicago this offseason, was granted time off from training camp in order to travel to Paris to watch Biles compete. Owens said the team was "really cool about it" and thanked the Bears for being a "first-class organization."

"We respect the Olympics. That’s a big deal," coach Matt Eberflus said last week. "He’s supporting the one he loves the most. I think that’s so cool that he gets to do that, we welcome that and it’s going to be awesome. GO USA."

Owens will also be on hand for the Women's All-Around Final on Thursday, where Biles will look to reclaim gold after not competing in the event in the Tokyo Olympics. Her teammate, reigning All-Around gold medalist Suni Lee, will also compete in the All-Around Final as Team USA looks to top the podium.

The Bears kick off the preseason this Thursday when they face the Houston Texans in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game. While Owens will miss the exhibition game, he'll be back at Halas Hall for practice on Saturday.
