Jon Gruden on how Chiefs fans make Arrowhead Stadium a tough place to play
We may have gotten a little insight into why former Raiders coach Jon Gruden had the team bus take a victory lap in KC after beating the Chiefs in 2020.
The Raiders defeated the Chiefs 40-34 at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, ending a seven-game losing streak in Kansas City.
While previewing Thursday’s NFL Kickoff Game between the Chiefs and Ravens on his YouTube page, Gruden ended by talking about how Kansas City fans make it tough on opposing teams.
“You know those Chiefs fans, too,” Gruden said as he started a chant (of sorts) while doing the Arrowhead Chop (of sorts). “They’re gonna start tailgating tomorrow night (Wednesday). That’s what you do to get yourself ready. Drive me crazy. I mean, it’s so freaking loud in that place.
“Plus, the road locker room. You would think you’re in some penitentiary somewhere. God, you come out of the tunnel and (more Arrowhead Chop chanting).”
The clip of Gruden, who spent time at Chiefs training camp earlier this year, is below and you can watch the entire video here.
