Flames' Johnny Gaudreau exacts justice after no-goal call

In the third period of Game 3 between the Calgary Flames and the Anaheim Ducks, rookie Sam Bennett appeared to score a game-tying goal for the home team.

Unfortunately, the referees didn't see it that way, which forced a review by the NHL war room. The verdict went against the Flames, as it was ruled that the video was inconclusive.

Of course this was not the result that Calgary was hoping for. The Flames trailed Anaheim two games to none before Tuesday's match.

Calgary eventually got the goal they were looking for when Johnny "Hockey" Gaudreau scored with 20 seconds remaining in the game to send it to overtime. The 21-year-old rookie exacted justice for his team in a timely fashion.

However, the no-goal call was not a popular one among fans and pundits.

It ended well for the Flames when centre Mikael Backlund scored his first NHL playoff goal on a delayed Anaheim penalty at 4:24 of extra time. Call it karma or justice, but Calgary dramatically handed the Ducks their first defeat of the playoffs by a score of 4-3 in overtime.
