John Dodson Hoping for Quick Return, Eyes T.J. Dillashaw Rematch

John Dodson Hoping for Quick Return, Eyes T.J. Dillashaw Rematch

After winning The Ultimate Fighter 14 bantamweight tournament by knocking out T.J. Dillashaw in December 2011, John Dodson made a run at the flyweight title.

“The Magician” came up short to champion Demetrious Johnson twice and decided to change weight classes. He returned to the bantamweight division at UFC on FOX 19 and scored a 37-second knockout over Manny Gamburyan. During the event’s post-fight press conference, Dodson indicated that he wants to return to action as soon as possible.

When asked when he’d like to return, Dodson said, “Tomorrow. That’s realistic. “

The win put Dodson back in the 135-pound Top 10 rankings, and he’s looking to quickly rise up the ladder.

“I’d be more than willing to fight anyone that steps in front of me, including T.J. Dillashaw,” he said.

The two have history. Dodson handed Dillashaw his first career loss and the two are never short on words when the other one’s name is brought up.

“T.J. Dillashaw has been sitting there saying it was a fluke the first time we fought. I knocked him out and I’m willing to show that it wasn’t’ a fluke and knock him out permanently,” said Dodson.
