Jimmy Snuggerud Showcased Himself For New Blues Coach Just In Time

He may not have known it yet, but St. Louis Blues 2022 first-round pick Jimmy Snuggerud showcased himself well for what will soon enough be his new coach.

On a weekend where the 23rd pick in the 2022 draft put on quite a couple of standout performances in a pair of wins for the University of Minnesota against Notre Dame with two goals, three assists, the Blues were naming Jim Montgomery their new coach on Sunday.

And judging by the looks and willingness to shoot pucks, Snuggerud will be a welcomed addition to the Blues in the not-too-distant future.

He had two assists Friday in a 5-3 win at South Bend, Ind., then scored twice and added an assist in a 6-3 win on Saturday.

This snipe from the top of the left circle put Minnesota ahead 2-1:

He made it 3-1 on the doorstep with a net front goal:

With his three-point effort, Snuggerud now has multi-point games in six of the past eight (six goals, seven assists) and he has 20 points (seven goals, 13 assists) in 14 games this season and is among the national leaders in scoring:

Montgomery will be keeping an eye on this kid, no doubt.

* Juraj Pekarcik -- The 2023 third-round pick continues to play for the top Canadian Hockey League squad in Moncton, but the forward continues to produce for the Wildcats.

He extended his point streak to seven games (four goals, six assists) by tallying two goals, four assists in three games for the Wildcats this past week.

He had two assists in a 7-4 win at Quebec on Wednesday, then had an assist Thursday in a 6-3 loss against Chicoutimi before finishing the week with two goals, one assist in a 5-3 win against Baie-Comeau on Saturday.

He opened the scoring with a little bit of fortune before adding an empty-netter to seal the win:

* Jakub Stancl -- For a skater projected to be a bottom six forward, Stancl continues to exhibit his skills at the junior level.

The 2023 fourth-round pick had a goal and three assists in three games for Kelowna of the Western Hockey League, including a goal and two assists in an 8-3 win over Vancouver on Friday:

Stancl, who has 23 points (nine goals, 14 assists) in 20 games, has 11 points (five goals, six assists) the past seven games.

* Colten Ellis -- So much focus has been bestowed -- and rightfully so -- on Jordan Binnigton and Joel Hofer leading the Blues in goal, but keep an eye on Colten Ellis down in Springfield with the Thunderbirds.

The third-round pick in 2019 turned in his sixth start in 10 games this season allowing two goals or fewer, making 31 saves in a 4-2 win at Hartford.

Ellis, who has allowed three goals or fewer in eight of his 10 starts, is 5-4-1 with a strong 2.79 goals-against average and a terrific .921 save percentage, picking up where the 24-year-old left off last season when he had a 2.89 GAA and .924 save percentage.

* Jecho, Alexandrov -- Forward Adam Jecho (third round, 2024) of Edmonton of  the WHL began a new point streak this past week with three games (two goals, one assist) and Thunderbirds forward Nikita Alexandrov (second round, 2019) had a goal and two assists in two Springfield wins this week.
