Jevon Carter expresses confusion regarding lack of Bulls playing time

This past offseason, the Chicago Bulls could have chosen to reset the roster, but they didn’t. They re-signed Nikola Vucevic, and at the 2024 trade deadline, they stood pat. They have some solid veterans and youngsters up and down the roster, but one of their veteran signings from this summer hasn’t been getting much playing time – Jevon Carter.

Chicago brought in Carter as a depth piece this summer – a local guy who always dreamed of playing for the Bulls. Carter has appeared in 51 games this year, but he’s only played 13.8 minutes per contest. His lack of playing time has confused fans, and he’s confused, too.

Carter recently said that he’s unsure why he hasn’t been getting on the floor more, per KC Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago.

“Am I surprised? Yes,” Carter said. “I don’t know, man. I just want to play ball. Whenever my name is called, I’ll be ready.”

Johnson emphasized that Carter stated that sentiment “matter-of-factly, not maliciously.” He is a team player.

“I want to see my teammates do well,” Carter said. “Just because I’m not playing, it ain’t got nothing to do with them. It’s all love.”

Carter played a big role for the Milwaukee Bucks last season, and he’ll likely continue to be a solid piece for the Bulls this year, regardless of his playing time.
