Jets Swap Top Prospects With AHL Affiliate

The Winnipeg Jets have recalled forward Nikita Chibrikov and have assigned forward Brad Lambert to the Manitoba Moose.

Lambert was called up to the Jets six days ago after Nikolaj Ehlers was announced out with a lower-body injury. He played in four games during his call-up but failed to record a point while averaging 12:44 of time on ice.

The 20-year-old will rejoin the Moose, where he has been one of the team's best forwards, scoring three goals and 11 points in 16 games. His reassignment to the AHL will allow Chibrikov to play in his second NHL game after he scored in his NHL debut during the 2023-24 campaign.

Through 19 games, the 21-year-old Russian winger leads the Moose in points with 13 and is tied for the lead in goals (5) with Dominic Toninato.

The Jets' 2021 second-round pick (50th overall) is listed at 5'10 but is an immensely skilled forward with blazing speed. He'll slot into the lineup until Ehlers is ready to return and provide the Jets with secondary offence outside of Mark Scheifele, Kyle Connor and Gabriel Vilardi.

The Jets host the Boston Bruins on Tuesday, and it could mark Chibrikov's season debut.
