Why Jets star Mark Scheifele refuses to swear on the ice

It often takes a very patient and polite person to hold back from swearing, but no matter how intense the battle, Mark Scheifele never swears. Ever.

“Mark Scheifele doesn’t swear on the ice. But he actually doesn’t swear at all,” Sophia Jursksztowicz, co-host of the Jack and Soph podcast said on the latest episode after talking to Scheifele in September. “He just said, like I don’t swear at all. I’ll never, I was raised that way.”

That is actually a pretty impressive feat, especially considering all of the smack talk that goes on in the NHL between competitors. When Jackie Redmond found out about Scheifele’s curse-free living habit, she got a pretty good laugh out of it.

“It’s funny. It’s almost better to hear someone really mad […] yelling at a ref and being like, that was a frickin high stick,” she said about hearing him mic’d up on the ice. “And he was just really funny, like, freaking out and saying take another look, eh.”

So I think we have all learned a valuable lesson from this. The next time you stub your toe and you are about to curse, just take a moment to think, ‘What would Scheifele do?’
