Jets Sign RFA Forward Cole Perfetti to Two-Year Bridge Contract

The Winnipeg Jets and restricted free agent forward Cole Perfetti have come to terms on a two-year, $6.5 million contract.

He will be paid $3 million in 2024-25 and $3.5 million in 2025-26, according to TSN's Darren Dreger's report before the team announced the re-signing Monday evening.

The team and player were unable to come to an agreement on appropriate value for a long-term deal, so a two-year 'bridge-styled' contract was the ultimate decision.

In order for the 22-year-old forward to avoid falling behind any further than he needs to be due to his hold-out, Jets' management clearly value his presence in training camp and will look to see him quickly join the team sessions as camp continues.

Perfetti, a product of Whitby, Ont., had 19 goals and 38 points in 71 games for Winnipeg last season - his third in the league.

Falling out of favour of former coach Rick Bowness in the later stages of the season, the youngster found himself firmly seated in the Jets' press box as a healthy scratch as important games with post-season implications were brought into the equation.

Perfetti only dressed in one playoff game for Winnipeg, the Jets' final of the post-season.

The 10th overall selection in the 2020 NHL Draft will look for a fresh start under new head coach Scott Arniel. Winnipeg is 0-1-1 in two exhibition games so far this pre-season.
