Jets Sign Haydn Fleury and Mason Shaw to One-Year Deals

The Winnipeg Jets have added additional depth to the roster on Wednesday evening with the announcement of two more free agent signings.

After a relatively quiet opening day of July, general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff pulled himself out of his Muskoka chair and got down to business on filling out his bottom-six forwards, bottom pair defencemen and some American Hockey League talent.

Signings of defenceman Colin Miller and forward Jaret Anderson-Dolan on Tuesday paved the way for two more contracts handed out on Wednesday night.

First, it Cheveldayoff gave forward Mason Shaw a one-year, $775K deal, before following it up with another identical contract for defenceman Haydn Fleury.

Shaw (25) and Fleury (27) will now battle in camp for the final spots on Winnipeg's roster in both the forward and defence position groupings.

Both players were signed to two-way contracts, meaning they will not be required to pass through Waivers if needed to be sent down from the Jets to the Moose.

Fleury has 10 goals and 37 points to go alongside 79 penalty minutes in 268 career regular season games between the Carolina Hurricanes, Anaheim Ducks, Seattle Kraken and the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Shaw has been with the Minnesota/Iowa Wild for the entirety of his career, and has skated in exactly 82 NHL games. He has eight goals, 20 points and 118 penalty minutes to his name.
