Jets Make Seven Cuts as Final Roster Looms

The Winnipeg Jets are nearing the start of the 2024-25 season. And with it, the team is beginning to take shape.

With the pre-season having officially concluded on Friday night in Calgary, Jets front office and coaching staff will have a few more difficult decisions left to make before the page is turned on the 2024-25 regular season.

That said, the team recently announced seven additional cuts following its announcement of five releases earlier in the week.

Four of the seven players were required to pass through Waivers in order to be sent down to the American Hockey League, but none were picked up by any of the 31 other teams.

Players sent to the Manitoba Moose include:

G - Thomas Milic

D - Tyrel Bauer

D - Dmitry Kuzmin

D - Simon Lundmark

F - Axel Jonsson-Fjallby

F - Mason Shaw

F - Dominic Toninato

With the Jets' current training camp roster sitting at 27 healthy players, the team will need to make at minimum four more cuts prior to the official submission of the team's 23-man roster.

It is expected that youngsters Brad Lambert, Nikita Chibrikov and Elias Salomonsson will be the three players released, while one of Eric Comrie or Kaapo Kahkonen will be the goaltender sent to the AHL.

Winnipeg opens its season on the road in Edmonton on Wednesday.
