Jets Place Checking Forward On Injured Reserve; Announced Week-To-Week

The Winnipeg Jets have placed forward Morgan Barron on the injured reserve, retroactive to Jan. 28, and HC Scott Arniel has announced him week-to-week.

The 26-year-old suffered the upper-body injury while executing a body check on Montreal Canadiens forward Kirby Dach. The hit went viral on social media due to the way Dach fell but Barron, who did appear to hold his midsection following the hit, clearly got the worst of it.

Barron has been healthy this season up until this new injury. He's played in all 52 games for the Jets, scoring five goals and eight points.

The Halifax, NS native has been an energy guy in the Jets' bottom six. He plays with pace, throws hits on the forecheck and kills penalties, doing this all in just 10:27 of ice time. His presence in the bottom six will be missed and tonight he'll be replaced by young spark plug Parker Ford.

Barron is now added to the IR list that currently consists of the Jets' captain Adam Lowry. Both forwards are considered week-to-week and will be out throughout the 4 Nations Face-Off.
