Jets Get Locked Up; Lose 5-2 To Utah HC

The Winnipeg Jets were 4-0 down and could not recover, losing 5-2 to Utah HC.

The Jets fired 25 shots at Connor Ingram but he was able to turn away 23, en route to the win. Connor Hellebuyck allowed four goals and 27 shots. Adam Lowry did not play the final two periods after sliding awkwardly into the boards in the first period.

The first period ended scoreless with the Jets narrowly outshooting Utah 11-10.

Olli Maatta opened the scoring with 4:00 remaining in the second period. Clayton Keller picked up an assist on the goal, extending his point streak to four games. He had left earlier in the game after taking a shot to the face and returned to record an assist on his second shift back.

Logan Cooley doubled Utah's lead with 17.9 seconds remaining in the second period. The marker was Cooley's fourth goal in as many games. Utah made life very difficult for the Jets, limiting them to just six shots in the middle frame and taking 10 of their own.

Barrett Hayton extended Utah's lead to 3-0 after Josh Doan forced a bad turnover from Neal Pionk.

Mattias Maccelli scored his eighth of the season capping off a beautiful passing play involving Doan and Hayton.

Nino Niederreiter got the Jets on the board, making it 4-1. His shot surprised Ingram due to his quick release.

Dylan DeMelo brought the Jets within two after finishing off a one-timer opportunity. Ehlers picked up his second primary assist on the goal.

The Jets had a final push in search of an equalizer but their efforts came up short with Keller adding the empty net goal to ensure the victory.
