Jets Loan Defenseman To The Manitoba Moose

The Winnipeg Jets have loaned defenseman Dylan Coghlan to the Manitoba Moose.

The 26-year-old has played in six NHL games this season, failing to record a point in any of them. During those six games, Coghlan was averaging 15:21 of ice playing on the Jets' third pair. He'll rejoin the Jets' AHL affiliate where's already registered two games.

Coghlan signed a one-year, league-minimum contract with the Jets in the offseason after he spent parts of seasons with the Vegas Golden Knights and the Carolina Hurricanes.

Coghlan has fit in nicely with the Jets in his limited minutes but due to the log jam of defensemen the Jets currently employ, sending down a player who does not require waivers is the best option to maintain their depth on the blue line.

Both Colin Miller and Haydn Fleury are ramping up their process for their returns and were both practicing today in full contact. The Jets also made a trade to acquire Isaak Phillips from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for defenseman Dmitry Kuzmin.

The Jets are out of action until Thursday when they host the Seattle Kraken.
