The Red Wings enter tonight's game riding the highs of a three-game win streak, something they have struggled to do this season. Recently hired Todd McLellan has helped the Red Wings, and they are currently going through the new coach bump.

The Jets, on the other hand, have stymied a bit, losing two consecutive games, including a 4-3 overtime loss to the Anaheim Ducks. The Jets scored a late go-ahead goal but gave up an even later tying goal before Troy Terry potted his second of the game to win it for the Ducks.

Dylan Larkin was going through a tough stretch of games before McLellan was hired, but since he joined the coaching staff, Larkin has seen an uptick in his numbers, recording points in all four games since he took over as head coach.

The Red Wings have long been searching for a spark that could turn their season around and not just point them in the right direction but lead them into the playoffs. McLellan's Red Wings tenure has just begun, but with over half the season remaining, he has the time to get the Red Wings where they want to be.

Connor Hellebuyck will be in between the pipes for the Jets and has a special opportunity to reach an impressive milestone. With a win tonight, Hellebuyck will record his 300th career win against the team he grew up 10 minutes from the home arena. His excellent season and tremendous career presents him with another unique opportunity.
