Jets Fall to Kings 2-1 in Overtime

It just wasn't the Winnipeg Jets' night on Friday.

It really hasn't been their week, either.

On Friday, the Los Angeles Kings rolled into Winnipeg for a Western Conference clash with the Jets.

Other than the Connor Hellebuyck 300-win pre-game ceremony and a nifty Mark Scheifele power play marker, it wasn't a pretty picture on the ice.

Winnipeg had just four shots in the first period and five in the second, before erupting for 10 more in the third.

However, it still wasn't enough.

Eric Comrie played well in net, but he's no Connor Hellebuyck.

Adrian Kempe scored the overtime winner 1:14 into the extra frame, beating Comrie on a clean two-on-one rush up-ice. His first period helper gave him two points on the night.

Mark Scheifele finished off a beautiful passing play on a third period man advantage for Winnipeg, firing home his 24th goal of the season into a wide open net behind and out-of-position Darcy Kuemper.

Comrie shut the door on 21 of Los Angeles' 23 shots on the night, while Kuemper made 18 stops on the 19 pucks sent his way.

It's now been losses in four of Winnipeg's last five games and three out of four to start the lengthy homestand.

Next up for the Jets is the fifth test of the season-high, eight-game homestand, as the Colorado Avalanche come to town on Saturday evening for a 6:00 PM Hockey Night in Canada spectacle.
