Jets Defenseman Upgraded To Regular Practice Jersey

Winnipeg Jets defenseman Dylan Samberg skated in a regular practice jersey today for the first time since suffering a foot injury on Nov. 23.

The 25-year-old played in 21 games before the injury, scoring three goals and six points while averaging 20:17 of TOI. He was playing some of the best hockey of his career before the injury, morphing into a consistent defender.

He blocked shots at a high rate, but his ability to halt his opponents' rush and cycle chances was among the league's best. His eventual return will help the Jets defensively, which has been slipping up far too often lately.

The Jets have allowed four or more goals in each of their last three games, two of which were to opponents outside of the playoffs.

Samberg won't return tonight against the Nashville Predators as he skated as the extra defenseman today in practice but Dylan Coghlan will return to the lineup after sitting in the press box for the past two games.

Colin Miller suffered an upper-body injury against the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday and is considered day-to-day, providing reasoning for why he won't be in the lineup tonight.
