Jets Begin Three-Game Road Trip In Montreal

The Winnipeg Jets kick off a challenging three-game road trip against the Montreal Canadiens.

During this three-game stretch, the Jets will face the Canadiens, Boston Bruins, and the league-leading Washington Capitals. The Canadiens sit in sixth place in the Atlantic Division but are just two points out of the final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference.

The last time these two teams faced off was the beginning of the mid-season turnaround for the Canadiens. The Jets defeated the Canadiens 4-2 but they went on to rattle off six wins in their next seven games. That span of games helped them get back into the playoff picture and they haven't dropped out of it.

The Jets have increased their lead in the Pacific Division to eight points over the Dallas Stars. The Stars do have two games in hand but if they did win both, the Jets would still be four points clear. The Jets also lead the Western Conference but their lead over the Vegas Golden Knights and Edmonton Oilers is slimmer.

Connor Hellebuyck and Sam Montembeault are the confirmed starters tonight and they'll both be representing their countries at the upcoming 4 Nations Face-Off. Hellebuyck hasn't played since Jan. 24 when the Jets beat Utah HC so he will likely be fresh and ready to go tonight.

The Jets remain in a positive position regarding team health. Adam Lowry is the only Jets player who is out with an injury. HC Scott Arniel said he doesn't expect Lowry to return until after the 4 Nations Face-Off.

Puck drop is at 6:00 P.M. CST at the Bell Centre.
