Jets Aim to Continue Dominant History Over Blues, Snap Losing Streak on Tuesday

The Winnipeg Jets return home after playing nine of their last ten games on the road to take on the frisky St. Louis Blues. The Jets started to experience hardships towards the end of their lengthy road trip and has resulted in a three-game losing streak entering Tuesday.

The Blues have seen even harder times as of late with just six wins in their last 17 games. Both teams are looking for a big win to get things back on track. The last time these two met earlier this season, Winnipeg squeaked out a 3-2 victory on the road.

This has become a habit for the Jets as they've beat their Central Division rivals in 12 of their last 14 matchups, including four straight wins. Their success could be attributed to their defence, who has allowed three or more goals in just three of those 14 games.

Winnipeg has already confirmed that in net will be early Vezina trophy favourite Connor Hellebuyck. The Michigan native may be the first goaltender to win the award back-to-back years since 2008 when Martin Brodeur completed the feat.

He excels in this matchup against the Blues with a 16-5-2 record, a goals against average of 2.03 and a save percentage of .929 in 23 career matchups. Blues goalie Joel Hofer will look to even things out after coming off an impressive 27-save performance against the Rangers in his last start.

St. Louis has struggled on the backend this season with a 3.16 goals against average. This could be a problem going against a Winnipeg team that has the second-best offence in the league, averaging 3.76 goals per game.

It should present a solid opportunity for Mark Scheifele to get on the board as the longtime Jet has gone without a point in three straight games and has six goals with 11 assists for 17 points in his last 14 games against the Blues.

St. Louis forward Jordan Kyrou should be the focus of the Jets defence as he's been the Blues best player this season with seven goals and 13 assists for 20 points in 25 games.

It should make for an exciting matchup as both teams desperately want to win. You catch the game on Sportsnet at 7:00 PM MT, or catch the live broadcast on Power 97, the FM home of the Winnipeg Jets.
