The reigning champions of Germany paid a reported €15m to bring him over from the Brittany club, where he’d featured in over 20 Ligue 1 affairs last season.
Belocian joined Der Werkself on a five-year contract, appearing in nine matches since his arrival. It has been a complicated time for the youngster, who’s earned five international caps for the French youth team but has been struggling with physical issues since joining Xabi Alonso’s setup.
He’d been out for over a month with an ankle issue at the end of October before suffering this recent issue. After 16 matchdays Leverkusen are second in the German top-flight, four points below the leaders Bayern Munich.
Last season’s UEFA Europe League runners-up are fourth in the Champions League phase, a point above Borussia Dortmund and an automatic berth into the round of 16.
