Jaylon Johnson wants Bears to deliver knockout punches to opponents

Losing games in the final moments can not only feel like a punch in the gut for the fans, but for veteran leaders and captains of the Chicago Bears, it feels like they're receiving knockout punches from their opponents.

That's been especially true this season with the Hail Mary loss to the Washington Commanders and last week's blocked field goal defeat to the Green Bay Packers, which have felt not only demoralizing but destroyers of a season that was once high in optimism.

This week, defensive leader and star cornerback Jaylon Johnson said the team has been getting punched in the face by opponents, in different aspects of the game. Appearing on his weekly segment on 670 the Score, Johnson said the team needs to find a way to deliver knockout blows of their own to their opponents.

"We've been getting punched in the face in a lot of different ways from a lot of different people," Johnson said, via 670 the Score. "At this point, it's kind of (us) getting used to taking punches. We've got to figure out a way to throw some knockout punches ourselves."

Whether it's been the defense carrying a porous offense, the offense putting the team in position to win and only get let down by defense or special teams, the Bears have had brutal losses all season. It's one thing to be completely outplayed, but most of the losses this season have come in close games, with very questionable coaching decisions or lack of offensive production holding them back.

With less than half of the season remaining, Johnson wants the team to start knocking their opponents out, instead of taking the devastating blows.
