Jaylon Johnson understands Bears fans displeasure in loss to Seattle

Never mind the 10 straight losses the Chicago Bears have suffered during their current skid. What played out in the fourth quarter of their loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 17 might be the most embarrassing moment for the franchise this year.

In the closing moments of their 6-3 loss to Seattle, the final home game of the season served as a stage for the fans to be loud in their anger and disappointment on the season. With the Bears looking lost and dysfunctional in the closing moments of the loss to the Seahawks, the Bears faithful at Soldier Field started to loudly roar with a "sell the team" chant. The chant would go all the way through the end of the game, after they failed on their final offensive drive, and could even be heard while watching the 'TNF' Postgame show on Prime Video.

Following the loss, Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson was asked about the chant and the crowd voicing their displeasure, and told 670 the Score that he understands the fans frustration.

"They have high expectations, and when you don't perform, you get booed — regardless of if it's team, players, ownership," Johnson said.

Johnson is no stranger to the chants, as he's yet to have a winning season since being drafted in 2020.

"At the end of the day, if you don't want them [the fans] to boo, win the game," Johnson said. "Again, I've been here, I've been booed plenty of times. I've been through the 'Fire Nagy', 'Fire Flus', 'sell the team' I've seen it all at this point. We all know the Chicago fans, they're very passionate. When you're doing good, you love them, when you're doing bad, you hate them, that's just part of the Chicago fan culture."

There's no denying Johnson's thoughts on the Bears fanbase and the passion they show the team each and every week, whether it be positive or negative. After the season started off with two top 10 picks in the 2024 NFL draft in Caleb Williams and Rome Odunze, some of the free agency moves made, and the franchise's first ever appearance on "Hard Knocks" there were plenty of high expectations that the team did not meet in disappointing fashion. Johnson's comments fall in line with most of his teammates who have also said they understand the fans' frustration.
