Jaylon Johnson shares his preferred Bears coaching candidates

Fans of the Chicago Bears aren't the only ones with strong opinions about who the team's next head coach should be. It turns out the players themselves have some thoughts, too, and one prominent member of the team shared some names.

During the Thursday Night Football game between the Bears and the Seattle Seahawks, sideline reporter Kaylee Hartung reported that Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson had some specific names in mind when asked about the team's vacant head coaching position.

According to Hartung, Johnson mentioned Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady, and Washington Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury as offensive minds. Johnson also mentioned former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel as a leader of men type, something the Bears cornerback has previously alluded to wanting in prior interviews.

All of the names Johnson listed have been linked to the Bears job in some capacity. Johnson has been the hottest name of the bunch, with multiple reports stating there is interest on both sides at this stage. More importantly, though, Johnson sees the need for an offensive-minded head coach, even as a defensive player. Keep in mind, he was drafted by Matt Nagy and spent the first two years of his career playing under him. Interestingly enough, Johnson did not mention interim head coach Thomas Brown, who is 0-4 during his tenure following a 6-3 loss to the Seahawks.

The Bears coaching vacancy will start to become clearer once the regular season ends after next weekend. We'll see if one of Johnson's preferred candidates wind up becoming his next head coach soon enough.
