Javier Hernandez has been impressed with the spirit within the West Ham camp as the striker insisted the team will fight each week to get their Premier League campaign back on track.

Slaven Bilic's side are yet to win a game this season after the Hammers opened up the campaign with a 4-0 thrashing away to Manchester United before seeing an added-time penalty hand Southampton a 3-2 win on Saturday - in a game that also saw Marko Arnautovic sent off in.

Despite the scoreline at St Mary's, there were some positives for West Ham as Hernandez opened up his goalscoring record for the Hammers with two goals against the Saints.

And the 29-year-old, who joined West Ham this summer, believes the club's fighting spirit will help steer the east Londoners back on track this term.

"We need to look forward, we need to be positive. We cannot stay in the good memories or the bad memories," Hernandez told Sky Sports News.

"That's the good thing about football - you have the chance of revenge every weekend or every two games per week. That's a good thing."

He said: "It gave me a lot of confidence, not only because I scored the goals but because of the spirit of the whole team.

"I was lucky to score two, but we showed spirit and hunger and we want to prove in every match we will fight until the end to get a good result."
