Jaromir Jagr Recalls Memorable Johnny Gaudreau Moment with Flames
On Monday, National Hockey League legend and former Calgary Flames forward Jaromir Jagr took to his Instagram account to share a message on the passing of Johnny Gaudreau. The latest of many to share an emotional few words, Jagr spoke of his final goal in a Flames uniform.
Speaking in Czech, Jagr pointed out that Gaudreau was the last player to post an assist on a Jaromir Jagr NHL goal. Clearly, it's a moment in his NHL career he'll never forget.
Jagr's translated message read:
"I honestly never thought I'd write a text like this to a post," Jagr wrote. "Yea that was my last NHL goal Yes, that was a pretty nice goal. Yes, it was a beautiful pass above all. Unfortunately, life can sometimes be incredibly cruel. Thank you Johnny Gaudreau for being there and giving hope to all the guys with your incredible performances that though they are not the biggest and toughest, they can succeed at the NHL world class just like you did. My condolences to the whole family. R.I.P. to you and your brother."
During the 2017-18 season, Jagr also posted a video of the goal and, as he mentioned, it was a beautiful pass. Jagr played 22 games for the Flames and that was the only goal he scored for the franchise.
Jagr's run in Calgary was short, but the mark left on him as he played with Gaudreau shows just how much Johnny Hockey left a mark on the people he played with.
