Jaquan Brisker injury updates: Latest news on Bears safety

The Chicago Bears (4-5) are gearing up for a divisional showdown against the Green Bay Packers (6-3) on Sunday, where they're going to need to be at their best if they hope to upset their arch rival for the first time since 2018.

The defense will be at near full strength, but they'll once again be without one of their key players and captains for another consecutive week, with a situation that is now approaching a dangerous level. Safety Jaquan Brisker has been ruled out of the team's Week 11 matchup with a concussion which will now be the fifth consecutive game he's missed with the injury.

Jaquan Brisker injury update

Brisker has been ruled out of the team's Week 11 matchup with a concussion which will now be the fifth consecutive game he's missed with the injury. Brisker suffered a concussion in a Week 5 win against the Panthers after delivering a huge hit that forced a key turnover. While Brisker did return to the game, he reported concussion symptoms the following morning and was diagnosed with a concussion. He went on to miss the next four, now five, games.

How long will Jaquan Brisker be out?

Suffering the concussion on a hit 38 days ago in the win over the Carolina Panthers, head coach Matt Eberflus described the safety as "week to week" as he continues to recover. This is also the third consecutive year in which Brisker has been diagnosed with a concussion, having missed multiple games in each season because of it. The biggest concern is the long-term health of Jaquan Brisker and when he may return to action, if he in fact does at any point this season.

Bears safety depth chart

With Brisker missing another game, Elijah Hicks will man the safety position opposite of veteran Kevin Byard III for the fifth straight game. In the four games that Hicks has replaced Brisker in the starting lineup, he has totaled 25 total tackles and two fumble recoveries. Jonathan Owens is another option, should additional backup be needed.
