Jaquan Brisker injury update: Will Bears safety return this season?

Chicago Bears safety Jaquan Brisker has been out of action since October 6 after suffering what is known to be his third diagnosed concussion in as many years.

During a game against the Carolina Panthers in Week 5, Brisker delivered a hit on tight end Tommy Tremble, and although Brisker returned to finish the game, he has not stepped on the field since. One of the brightest young rising stars on the Bears defense has been missed greatly, with his long-term health being the obvious area of concern and priority.

Back in November, Brisker was placed on injured reserve, as he has now missed eight straight games, but there could be a return before end of the season. Bears insider Brad Biggs reported early in the week that Brisker could be activated from injured reserve, and on Thursday, interim head coach Thomas Brown was asked about the safety's status.

"Taking it day by day, so I’m not sure," Brown said.

Approaching Brisker's potential return day by day feels like a positive sign, instead of just shutting down any talks of a return. Back on November 30, Brisker himself took to his X account and posted that he was returning to being on the grass.

With just four games remaining on the season, it would be a good sign to see Brisker return back to action, provided his health is in the clear. Having at least three diagnosed concussions in three seasons is concerning, so the Bears could err on the side of caution, prioritizing his long-term health rather than getting him back this year.
