Jakub Dobes Could Hit Big Milestones
Jakub Dobes has been a fan favorite of the Canadiens fans this season. They were calling for him when the backup goaltending was substandard and there was a chance that the 23-year-old could have a rough time. He was good in Laval, but that’s never a guarantee at the next level.

Carey Price is a legend. For good reason. Great goalie and a better person. I had the pleasure of covering him for his entire career including his amazing Calder Cup run in 2007 with the Hamilton Bulldogs. After seeing him win in that series, I was sold on him being an NHL star. Dobes, I’m not sure about but there’s a chance that the Montreal rookie netminder could be a star, but it’s too early to tell.
In 2016-17, Price had a personal best 10-game unbeaten streak. Right now, Dobes is undefeated at 5-0 but he has a chance to do this. Undefeated streaks are harder so I think there’s a real chance for him to do this.
One record that may be lofty comes from Bob Froese. He was undefeated for 13 games when he was with the Philadelphia Flyers in 1982-83 good for the fourth longest from the start of a career. That’s a little ways down the road but anything is possible the way this prospect is playing.
The Canadiens are a fun team to watch and Dobes just adds to that. He’s been a pleasant surprise and if he keeps winning he will move into a different category. But there’s time for that. Let’s see how his next block of starts goes.
