Jakob Chychrun Says He Loves Playing With Capitals, Hopes Contract Talks 'Get Taken Care Of Soon'

The Jakob Chychrun trade has worked wonders for the Washington Capitals, who have loved having him on their revamped blue line this season. And luckily for D.C., the feeling appears to be mutual.

Chychrun joined Grant Paulsen and Danny Rouhier on The Grant and Danny Show on 106.7 The Fan on Wednesday and took the time to express how much he's enjoyed his tenure in the District so far.

"We love it here. We really do. We love the group, we love the staff, there's been a lot of familiar faces throughout my time in the NHL throughout this organization that I've been with in the past that made the transition smoother.

"We've loved living here," Chychrun said. "We love living in Virginia, driving by the White House every day is something really cool on your way into work. It's been a blast."

On the ice, Chychrun has thrived, picking up 30 points through his first 39 games while helping the Capitals to the top of the NHL standings. He's the fastest defenseman in franchise history to hit the 30-point mark.

When asked if he was interested in staying long-term, Chychrun, who becomes an unrestricted free agent in July, told Paulsen that he'd "see how things go." However, he reiterated how much he's enjoyed playing with Washington and that hopefully, his agent will work something out.

"The contract stuff, for the most part, I'm not the one on the phone doing that stuff, so I try to focus on preparing each night and helping this club win hockey games," Chychrun said. "As long as I do that, the rest will take care of itself. I've loved our time here so far... Hopefully, all that other stuff gets taken care of soon."
