Jaguars practice squad player tests positive for COVID-19, team still intends to play Sunday

The Jacksonville Jaguars still plan to play Sunday after one of the team’s practice squad players tested positive for the coronavirus. The team made the announcement Saturday, saying it would hold virtual workouts as the Jaguars continue to prepare for the Detroit Lions.

The Jaguars said they would provide updates on the situation when they are available.

The organization will perform contact tracing while the player who tested positive self-isolates.

Jaguars not the only team dealing with a positive COVID test

The Jaguars, New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles all had positive tests or placed players on the COVID-19/reserve list in the days leading up to Week 6. The NFL has not canceled or postponed any of those games yet. The Patriots plan to reopen their practice facility Saturday after revealing one of their players tested positive Friday.
