Jaguars player on fired Gus Bradley being on team plane home: 'Yeah, that sucked'
The Jacksonville Jaguars didn’t waste time firing head coach Gus Bradley after their ninth loss in a row, 21-20 on Sunday to the Houston Texans. It was an inevitable move that most people expected. They just didn’t expect him to be fired before the team flew back to Jacksonville.
Bradley was informed of his status, and then he and the team took the charter flight back.
Can you say awkward? That two-hour flight likely felt longer than it actually was.
Jaguars defensive tackle Sen’Derrick Marks had another way of describing the plane ride, per ESPN.com.
“Yeah, that sucked,” Marks said Tuesday. “If I had an opinion on if I thought that was the right move, I don’t think that was the right way to do it. He had to ride the plane home back that way, but that ain’t my call. They did it. They made the move.”

Marks described the strange scene of Bradley going around the plane to talk to the players after finding out he would no longer be their coach. It appears the Jags didn’t know how to deal with it at the moment.
“Gus was very cordial about it,” Marks said. “Spoke with everybody. Came through the plane shaking hands and just talking with people. Gus has always been a great person in that aspect, but I don’t think we as players were in the mood or were ready to actually see that at that moment.”
Making it worse, many of the player found out via social media — and not by the team making any kind of announcement on the plane. This despite team owner Shad Khan and general manager Dave Caldwell making the decision to fire Bradley the day prior to the Texans game. Bradley didn’t find out until after the game, and the Jaguars didn’t appear to have a great plan in mind in terms of timing and announcing it to the players.
“Sitting on the bus waiting to go to the airport, and the things start popping up on social media,” linebacker Paul Posluszny said. “That’s how we found out, so it was very surprising.”
So not only have the Jaguars failed on the field this season, they also struggled at 30,000 feet.
