AC Milan have begun negotiations over the renewal of Tijjani Reijnders, and it is because arguably the top two teams in Europe are after him.

As Alessandro Jacobone reports on his X account, the start of negotiations for the renewal of Reijnders – reported by Dutch and Italian sources in recent weeks – has clear motivations. The first is to reward the player with a pay rise, because he is becoming decisive and is consistently growing.

At the same time, there is the intention to armour him in order to ward off the numerous clubs that are looming on the horizon. It is no coincidence that the activation of renewal talks took place a few days after the second visit of scouts from Manchester City to San Siro.

It is also indicative that Real Madrid are also seriously considering the player, convinced by his recent performance at the Santiago Bernabeu in which he was the creative heart of Paulo Fonseca’s team, scoring the third goal too.

The Dutchman currently earns a salary of €1.8m net per year, and the aim is to increase it to around €3.5m, with the intention of closing the deal within the next two or three months. A delay could complicate the scenario, especially in the event of failure to qualify for the next Champions League.

Milan are already at work, and the player is happy with his growing importance in a project that he has chosen with determination. He rejected the advances of Barcelona, Tottenham and West Ham to join Milan, and updates will follow on his future.
