Jacare Souza Earns $50,000 for Submitting Tim Boetsch (UFC 208 Bonuses)

Ultimate Fighting Championship announced the fighter bonuses stemming from UFC 208 following Saturday's event in Brooklyn, New York. Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, Dustin Poirier, and Jim Miller took home the $50,000 performance-based incentives.

The fight promotion typically awards four fighters bonuses after an event, but with only one finish on the 10-fight card only three fighters received bonuses.

Poirier and Miller earned Fight of the Night honors for their lightweight bout that kicked of the event's main card. Heading into the bout Poirier promised to be more defensively minded instead of engaging in a brawl. By the end of the first round, he and Miller were slinging leather in the pocket. Poirier landed the cleaner shots, but Miller did not go away. After three rounds of back-and-forth action, Poirier was awarded a majority decision win.

The Brazilian has logged first-round finishes in his last two outings. With the win “Jacare” has options. He can either weight for a title shot, or take a fight to remain active.

UFC 208: Holm vs. de Randamie took place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Nine of the 10 fights resulted in decisions.
