Speaking on RMC show Rothen s’enflamme, Jérome Rothen has demanded that France boss Didier Deschamps removes the captaincy from Kylian Mbappé (25) after he was seen in a nightclub in Stockholm whilst France were in action during Israel.

The Real Madrid forward was left out of the Les Bleus head coach’s squad for the international break due to an injury sustained whilst playing for his club. However, the France captain continued to feature for his club before the international break – playing in matches against Lille and Villarreal.

Despite being declared unavailable due to injury, before France’s 4-1 victory against Israel, the former PSG forward was spotted visiting a restaurant in Stockholm before attending the nightclub “V”, according to Aftonbladet. Mbappé’s absence from the squad has been viewed as controversial, given his ability to play for Real Madrid, but this has undoubtedly added more tension to the situation.

Rothen believes Mbappé should be punished by the France boss, “We put you very high, we put you above the Eiffel Tower in Paris, so you can’t give that image, you can’t make a mistake. What happened shows, that he is above everything, above Didier Deschamps. But I ask Didier Deschamps: take your responsibilities, you take the armband off him.”
