Ivan Toney: Thomas Frank issues transfer update amid Manchester United and Saudi Arabia links

Thomas Frank does not expect Ivan Toney to leave Brentford, despite interest from Saudi Arabia.

The Bees looked set to sell Toney this summer but set a £60million asking price and no Premier League clubs have so far moved to sign him.

Manchester United have been linked with a late move for the England striker and he is also reportedly wanted by Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli.

But Frank said: “I think he will be a Brentford player after September 1.

“There has been a lot of talk about Ivan, the last six months, about whether he’ll leave this summer.

“So far, he’s still a Brentford player. I think we are getting closer and closer [to him staying] a Brentford player, so I’m getting more and more excited, because he’s a top player.

“I’m loving working with Ivan, and we’ve got a fantastic relationship.”

Toney, who was previously tracked by Arsenal and Chelsea, ended last season on a 12-game goal drought but made important cameos off the bench for England at Euro 2024.

Toney is in his second week of Brentford training following a break after the European Championship and is set to be involved when the Bees begin their Premier League season at home to London rivals Crystal Palace on Sunday.
