Italy Superstar Back From Injury – Uncertain To Start In Roma Vs Inter Milan Serie A Clash
Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella is not certain to start against Roma next weekend despite being back from injury.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInter1908.
27-year-old Italian international Barella has spent the international break recovering from a thigh injury.
The problem for Barella is a strain to the rectus femoris muscle of his right thigh. He suffered the injury during the derby against AC Milan last month, where he started but had to come off during the second half.
Barella missed three matches in total for Inter so far. He was out against Udinese and Torino in Serie A, as well as Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League.
Meanwhile, Barella was not called up to the Italy squad for the break, due to his injury.
The target for Barella has always been to be back fit in time for Inter’s return from the international break.
Nicolo Barella Not Certain To Start Vs Roma Despite Injury Return
Inter’s first match back from the international break is away to Roma in Serie A.
Then, there are clashes with Young Boys in the Champions League and Juventus in the league.
According to Tuttosport, the absolute priority for Inter is to have Barella at his best to face Juventus.
The Derby d’Italia is always a massive match. And it could certainly have a big impact in the title race.
On the other hand, Tuttosport report, it is not yet clear whether or not Barella will start against Roma immediately after the break.
The 27-year-old will train this week. He is on track to be back in training with the rest of the squad on Tuesday.
And if Barella looks ready to start against Roma, then there is a very good chance that he will.
But Davide Frattesi could still start against the Giallorossi.
The 25-year-old filled in for Barella before the break.
