Italy Hoping To Get Inter Milan Star Back From Muscle Problem For UEFA Nations League Clashes Vs France & Israel
Italy are hoping to get Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni back fit for Nations League fixtures against France and Israel.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Bastoni has gone away with the Italian national team for the international break.
Azzurri coach Luciano Spalletti called the 25-year-old. And he responded to the call.
This is in spite of a bit of an injury worry for Bastoni.
The former Atalanta and Parma is not dealing with any serious injury. However, he did come off the pitch during the second half of Inter’s last match before the break against Atalanta.
Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi confirmed that the reason for the substitution had to do with Bastoni’s fitness.
The 25-year-old had been feeling some muscular discomfort.
These kinds of fitness and muscle problems have been a bit of an issue for Inter at the start of the season, as they often are in the first few weeks of a campaign.
Italy Hoping To Have Alessandro Bastoni Fit For France & Israel Clash
Bastoni’s status is therefore a bit up in the air for Italy during the international break.
The Azzurri medical staff will monitor the Inter defender.
Bastoni will train with the rest of his Italy teammates. But it remains to be seen how he will respond to training, and he could require more rest.
Certainly, there will be no risks with the fitness of Bastoni.
But one thing that’s clear is that Italy coach Spalletti will be hoping to have the 25-year-old available.
In what proved to be a very disappointing EURO 2024 campaign for the Azzurri, Bastoni’s performances in the group stage were one of the few real positives.
The Nerazzurri defender is certainly the player who Spalletti will want to build his backline around.
Therefore, Spalletti will be hoping that he can use Bastoni in Italy’s two fixtures during the break.
