Lazio are reportedly prepared to increase their offer for Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood to €25m, but they aren’t the only club trying to strike a deal.

The Italian outfit face stiff competition from Ligue 1 outfit Marseille, who recently appointed former Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi as their new manager.

There was reported interest from Juventus earlier this summer and Greenwood is thought to have enjoyed his stint in Spain last season.

Greenwood spent a season-long loan at Getafe, but the La Liga outfit won’t be able to compete with the likes of Marseille or Lazio now they’re in the middle of a bidding war, as per Gianluca Di Marzio.

According to Alfredo Pedulla, Lazio are prepared to increase their proposal to €25m plus a large percentage of a sell-on fee. Their initial bid was rejected.

Greenwood is only 22-years-old but he has no future at Old Trafford. The best scenario for United would be to see him leave permanently this summer.

The proceeds from Greenwood’s sale will represent pure profit on the balance sheet. As such, United will be able to significantly boost their spending power if and when a deal materialises.
