Juventus forward Nico Gonzalez was held accountable for his side’s inability to find the net in their Champions League clash against Club Brugge, with a blatant miss in the second half costing the Bianconeri two points.

Thiago Motta’s side once again struggled to create goal-scoring chances, which resulted in their third goalless draw of their European campaign.

Nico Gonzalez rated among Juventus’ worst players against Club Brugge

However, Italian sports media unanimously put the former Fiorentina forward among the worst-rated players of the night for missing what was arguably Juventus’ greatest chance to break the deadlock in the second half.

The Argentinean pounced on a Samuel Mbangula low cross with perfect timing but incredibly failed to connect with the ball from point-blank range, touching it with his back heel before his teammate Douglas Luiz also missed the target.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, who gave Nico Gonzalez a rating of 4.5, he missed a chance that could’ve ‘changed the match’.

Corriere dello Sport was as harsh, claiming he failed to capitalise on a ‘golden opportunity’ and noting that he made ‘too many mistakes’ in his link-up play.

Tuttosport rated the forward slightly higher (5) but lamented that he was unable to score in front of ‘an empty goal’ after being the only player able to speed up Juventus’ play in the first half.

The 26-year-old was sidelined for more than two months this season due to injury, scoring three goals from 15 appearances across all competitions.
