Islanders Prospect Cole Eiserman Named Hockey East Rookie Of The Week

Cole Eiserman, the New York Islanders' 20th overall pick at the 2020 NHL Draft and a collegiate rookie, cannot be stopped.

Over the last weekend, Eiserman notched a point in each of Boston’s two games against Maine, along with seven shots on goal.

This led to Eiserman being named Hockey East Player of the Week.

The honor added to his impressive season, in which he has scored seven goals and four assists for 11 points in 11 games.

Eiserman is the reigning Hockey East Rookie of the Month, and he currently leads all Hockey East rookies with seven goals. Only one NCAA rookie has scored more goals than Eiserman so far.

Eiserman headlines the Islanders’ prospect pool due to his excellent shot and high ceiling. As a member of the United States National Team Development Program (USNTDP), Eiserman broke Cole Caufield’s goal record with 127 tallies.

Eiserman fell to No. 20 in the draft due to scouts’ concerns with other areas of his game, but he has proved skeptics wrong so far. If he continues at this scoring pace in Boston, general manager Lou Lamoriello’s choice will only look better and better.

Overall, it’s been a good season for the Islanders’ collegiate prospects.

University of Wisconsin sophomore and 2022 second-round pick Quinn Finley has also killed it with eight goals and six assists for 14 points in 12 games.

Notre Dame forward and the Islanders' 2023 second-round pick, Danny Nelson, has five goals and two assists for seven points in 12 games.

Eiserman will play his next game on Friday when the Terriers face off against Merrimack.
