Islanders Prospect Cole Eiserman Dominating Early In First Collegiate Season; Could We See Him On Long Island Sooner Than Later?

Center Cole Eiserman is off to a terrific start in his freshman season at Boston University.

Eiserman, the New York Islanders' 20th overall pick in the 2024 draft has nine points in eight game with six goals and three assists.

He's tied for first in team scoring and tied for seventh amongst skaters under 20, as he's just 18:

The goal-scoring forward, who was said to have the best shot in the draft, wasted no time showing that off at the NHL level.

Scoring goals is his thing, as he broke the United States National Team Development Program (NTDP) goal-scoring record last season with 127 goals, passing Cole Caufield.

The concern with Eiserman isn't his ability to score but his ability to play without the puck on his stick.

However, the Islanders' general manager, Lou Lamoriello, believes Eiserman will learn a great deal under his head coach, Jay Pandolfo, who Lamoriello had as a player with the New Jersey Devils.

If Eiserman is able to keep this pace up, there will be speculation as to whether or not Lamoriello will sign Eiserman when the college season ends.

If Eiserman continues his point-per-game streak and continues to light up the NCAA, why exactly should he stay and play another season, especially with the Islanders in desperate need of a sniper?

Lamoriello is no stranger to calling up top prospects.

Noah Dobson, who was taken 12th overall by the Islanders in the 2018 NHL Draft, made his NHL debut the following season on Oct. 8th and played 34 games that season with the Islanders.

There's no reason to rush the lamp lighter, but if the Islanders believe he is ready to make a difference, a jersey is waiting for him.
