Islanders Place Forwards Oliver Wahlstrom & Pierre Engvall On Waivers

Following their 5-4 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday, the New York Islanders placed forwards Pierre Engvall and Oliver Wahlstrom on waivers on Friday.

The moves clear $2.15 million in cap space for the team. With Engvall's cap hit buried, $1.85 million will remain on the salary cap, while Wahlstrom's $1 million will be cleared.

Engvall previously went down to the AHL in October before returning to the team by the end of the month. In 20 games with New York, he has three goals and three assists for six points.

Wahlstrom's been in and out of the lineup this season, playing 27 games this season. He has two goals and two assists for four points.

Should both players clear, they will report to the Bridgeport Islanders. A potential claim by another club will be announced Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
