Islanders Mathew Barzal Headed Back To Long Island With Upper-Body Injury, Timeline TBD

BUFFALO -- New York Islanders forward Mathew Barzal is on his way back to Long Island due to an upper-body injury, the team announced on Friday morning.

There is no timeline update until he meets with team doctors.

Barzal, who has no points at 5-on-5 this season, has two goals and three assists in 10 games.

He did play the entirety of the game in Columbus, but was on the receiving end of this brutal hit, the likely cause of the injury:

Barzal joins forward Anthony Duclair on the shelf, who is 4-6 weeks away from returning.
