Islanders Head Coach Patrick Roy Shuts Down Lou Lamoriello Relationship Narrative
EAST MEADOW, NY -- After New York Islanders head coach Patrick Roy stated that playing Matt Martin and Pierre Engvall, who he barely played in the 6-3 loss to the Florida Panthers on Saturday night, was more of a Lou Lamoriello decision than his, rumors swirled about a rift between him and the Hall of Fame general manager.
At Monday's practice, Roy put those rumors to rest:
For full transparency, I asked Roy what the thought process was, going with Fasching on the fourth line tomorrow over a guy like Wahlstrom/Martin.
He said that he and Lou aren’t 100% happy with guys who played that role so far, before giving us the below quote. https://t.co/wkQvrrAkfE— Stefen Rosner (@stefen_rosner) October 28, 2024
At Monday's practice, Hudson Fasching skated on the fourth line with Kyle MacLean and Pierre Engvall.
Roy made it clear that finding the right fit on the fourth line alongside MacLean will be a process.
The hope is that someone will take advantage of an opportunity and win it.
The Islanders host the Anaheim Ducks at 7 PM ET on Tuesday.
