Iran FIFA World Cup Star’s Time At Inter Could Be Up After Just One Season
Striker Mehdi Taremi could find his time at Inter Milan is already up at the end of the season, if performances don’t improve.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Taremi joined Inter in the summer. He arrived on a free transfer from Porto.
The Nerazzurri’s idea in signing Taremi was clear. They want a “backup” striker who really is capable of starting in place of Lautaro Martinez or Marcus Thuram without a dip in quality.
That is something Inter hadn’t really had last season. They never really effectively replaced Edin Dzeko and Romelu Lukaku.
Could Mehdi Taremi Time At Inter Milan Be Up After Just One Season?
So far, Taremi has not really managed to take the opportunities he’s had at Inter.
The 32-year-old Iranian international has scored twice for the Nerazzurri. Once in the Champions League, and once in the Supercoppa Italiana.
But Taremi has not scored a single goal in the league.
Like Marko Arnautovic, Taremi has not really managed to take over from the legacy of Dzeko.
And in the case of Arnautovic (as well as Joaquin Correa) it is clear that he will part ways with Inter at the end of the season when his contract expires.
But Tuttosport suggest that Taremi could be in for the same fate.
The Iranian turns 33 next season. And if Inter don’t see him as reliable, they could look to move him on and sign a younger striker.
