Iowa State football player arrested for sexual and domestic abuse

Aidan Ralph, a member of the Iowa State University football team, was arrested Tuesday for charges of domestic abuse and third degree sexual abuse stemming from an incident in December.

Ralph, who is on scholarship for the Cyclones, allegedly assaulted a person at his residence on 17th Street in Ames, a criminal report said. Ralph allegedly shoved the person into a set of stairs, causing a spinal stress fracture. He later admitted to physically harming the victim, court documents said.

After Ralph allegedly refused to call on emergency medical services per the victim's request, according to the criminal complaint, he overpowered the person and proceeded to allegedly commit sexual abuse.

Ralph is suspended indefinitely from all football team activities, an ISU Athletics Department spokesperson said.

Ralph is a redshirt sophomore from Chicago. He listed as 6-foot 2 inches and 220 pounds, according to the football team's website roster. He has not seen game action for the Cyclones, but was a squad member last season.

A no-contact order has also been issued in the case.

Ralph will be appointed a public defender. His bail is set at $11,000 in the defendant's name only. A preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. May 15 at the Story County Courthouse.
