Recent revelations confirm that Inter coach Simone Inzaghi had conversations with Marco Ferdico, a Nerazzurri ultra arrested as part of a high-scale operation on Monday morning, with regard to securing extra tickets for the 2023 Champions League Final

Reports on Monday morning confirmed that 19 people, including multiple Inter and Milan ultras, have been arrested. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, 16 have been jailed while three have been placed under house arrest.

The investigation started at the beginning of September, following the murder of Antonio Bellocco, a leading member of Inter’s Curva Nord group, which resulted in the arrest of fellow Nerazzurri ultra Andrea Beretta.

Many of those arrested on Monday reportedly have links with Mafia families from the Calabria region, and have committed serious crimes, including the extortion of tickets and drinks, as well as other instances of organised crime and mafia-related methods in and around San Siro.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, wire taps have revealed that Inter coach Simone Inzaghi had a conversation with Marco Ferdico, who had asked the tactician to secure extra tickets for the Champions League Final against Manchester City in June 2023.

For that final, only 1,000 tickets had been made available for the Curva Nord section of the Inter support. Ferdico had requested for an extra 200 to be made available.

During a conversation over the phone, Ferdico had reportedly threatened a fan strike if the ticket issue was not resolved.

In response, Inzaghi said that he would speak to club manager Riccardo Ferri, as well as Beppe Marotta, CEO at the time and now club President, as well as vice-President Javier Zanetti.

The wiretaps revealed that Inzaghi said he would speak to the Nerazzurri executives and report back what they said.

Ferdico then insisted that Marotta had the final say and requested that Inzaghi spoke with him directly, in-person, to resolve the ticket issue.
