Individual Awards
Player of the Year: Alejandro Ibarra, Junior forward, Fort Worth Diamond Hill-Jarvis
Ibarra led Diamond Hill-Jarvis to the regional semifinals with 30 goals and 11 assists. He was knocked unconscious and was taken to the hospital, and the Eagles could not respond without their star; Ibarra made a full recovery.
Ibarra, a team captain and DHJ’s all time leading scorer (87), was named the unanimous District 7-4A MVP and made the TASCO Class 4A All-State First Team and the Class 4A Super Elite Team.
Offensive Player of the Year: Fabricio Martinez, Senior forward, Duncanville
Martinez scored 15 goals and tallied 10 assists, leading the Panthers to their first state tournament. He was named to the All-State Second Team.
Defensive Player of the Year: Ryan D’Urso, Junior defender, Keller
Keller soccer did not suffer a loss in District 4-6A play en route to a district title. Part of that success was due to the Indians’ dominant defense that surrendered six goals in district play. A staple of that defense was D’Urso, an All-State Second Team selection.
Newcomer of the Year: John Skiermont, Freshman forward, Southlake Carroll
Skiermont had a strong debut season for the Dragons, scoring 10 goals. He was named the District 4-6A Co-Offensive Player of the Year.
Coach of the Year: Kyle Reopelle, Fort Worth Diamond Hill-Jarvis
Reopelle coached the Eagles (20-6) to the regional semifinals, continuing DHJ’s run as one of Fort Worth’s premier boys high school soccer programs.
