Manchester City FC, one of the most well-known soccer clubs in the world, took on Scottish Premier League champions Celtic FC Tuesday for the first time since 2016.
The friendly was played on a muggy summer evening at Kenan Stadium at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The match kicked off Man City’s pre-season tour of four U.S. cities that also includes stops to New York’s Yankee Stadium, Orlando’s Camping World Stadium and Ohio Stadium.
The match is the second international soccer match held at Kenan Stadium, home to the North Carolina Tar Heels football team. Last summer, thousands of soccer fans descended upon Chapel Hill for a match between Chelsea and Wrexham as part of the FC Series.
