Inter Milan Yet To Make A Move For Udinese Star Despite Injury Crisis In Defense

Inter Milan have yet to make a move fir Udinese defender Jaka Bijol despite a developing injury crisis at the back.

This according to Italian outlet FCInterNews. They also report that there would be no chance of the Nerazzurri signing Racing Club’s Marco Di Cesare during the January transfer window.

Inter are reflecting on the possibility of signing a defender in January.

The Nerazzurri haven’t really been planning to dip into the transfer market next month. They have felt that the squad is sufficient the way it is, and there’s no need to make a signing in midseason.

However, injuries could change Inter’s mind.

The Nerazzurri are currently without Francesco Acerbi and Benjamin Pavard. Both key defenders have been absent for several weeks with thigh injuries.

And today, Matteo Darmian and Stefan de Vrij are big doubts for Inter’s Serie A match against Como.

That has stretched Inter’s defensive depth to its absolute limits.

Inter Yet To Make A Move For Jaka Bijol Despite Defensive Injury Crisis

Inter could feel that with so much fragility at the back, they have no option but to sign a defender.

In that case, there would be one name above all on the Nerazzurri’s list for January.

Udinese defender Jaka Bijol is a real long-term target for Inter.

The 25-year-old Slovenian international is a proven quantity in Serie A. He is now in his third season at Udinese.

And Bijol has shown himself to thrive at the centre of a back three. His man-marking ability and physicality would make him a logical long-term heir for Acerbi and de Vrij.

Therefore, if Inter are to make a signing next month, fast-tracking their pursuit of Bijol would be the likeliest plan.

And that is not something that can be ruled out, reports FCIN.

However, the outlet cautions, it is certainly not at the stage where Inter have taken any real steps to lay the groundwork for a move for Bijol.

As of yet, signing the Slovenian is nothing more than an idea for Inter.

Meanwhile, FCIN reports, while Inter do see Racing Club defender Marco Di Cesare as a potential future target, there would be no chance of them signing the Argentine next month.
